A crash course in changing the world.
When I decided to leave business and become a public school teacher, that was the beginning of my transformation into a social innovator. The number one reason I decided to leave banking and become a teacher is that business has no soul. After attending a series of system development meetings at the bank I was working for, I decided that being a banker only concerned with "making the numbers" was not an example that I wanted to set for my own children.
Many people would think that quitting a well-paying job at 44 to incur the debt of going on to graduate school is crazy. I decided that no matter what (NO LIMITS!), in 10 years I was still going to be 10 years older, and I needed to do something that was going to make a difference in the world. This is why I work with middle school aged (11, 12, 13, 14) students.
Middle school students are at risk for making poor decisions that can negatively effect the rest of their lives. Hopefully I can influence the students I work with to make better choices, believe in themselves & truly know there are no limits to what they can accomplish.
