$2 here in India approximately turns out to be Rs100. Now one can say that surely that is enough money to have a couple of meals each day. What does a packet of bread cost? Rs15 and lets say along with it a supplementary vegetable for Rs 15. A Rs 2 beverage daily and a Rs 5 snack. Water Rs 10. A place to stay say rs 30 and some additional spending makes u touch Rs 100.
Now u are all happy that u managed to survive a day, but imagine living like this day in day out. the
% of population in India below international poverty line of US$1.25 (Rs 60) per day, 1992–2007* is 42 % (Ref : http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/india_statistics.html#69) How does one expect to feed his family a stomach full twice a day?? How can one wake up each morning and only think about how to get his meals for today??? they have no money for education, proper medication, an appropriate shelter, apt clothing.
I truly believe to solve a problem one genuinely needs to face the problems first hand, to clean the gutters you first need to step into it. I shall certainly perform this task in the near future.
