Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Urgent vEvoke - Connecting Agents From Around The Globe Virtually

As the first season is almost completed and many people still want to connect, I've created a group called URGENTEVOKE in Second Life, a virtual reality 'game'.

The Evoke name has been changed to Urgent vEVOKE

I've joined up with Kevin DiVico who is the MegaCaptain.
We're inviting all Agents to join the group as a way to stay connected once this site goes 'dark'.
Second Life mirrors real life, in that there are no hidden treasures or quests. One can build virtual goods to sell such as virtual houses or avatar accessories, ride in a car, fly a flying saucer, listen to a live music concert, or go to an art show.

People use Second Life to play that's true, but I use it to connect with like-minded people from all over the world.

I have attend many conferences, participated in serious dicussions and asked questions to world leaders, scientists, or authors.

My nonprofit has a virtual office in the Nonprofit Commons, sponsored by TechSoup Global we now have over 80 nonprofit offices from all over the world with more joining each week. We meet every Friday see http://www.nonprofitcommons.org for more info.

For the UrgentEvoke group, I'm also looking for people interested in helping to organize a virtual conference on the day of the real Urgent Evoke conference in Washington, DC, so we can 'attend' and watch it on the screen, hear the speakers and participate in the discussion all from our homes. This will depend on cost and permission from Urgent Evoke to live-stream the conference.

Virtual reality is different from Urgent Evoke, or this type of Social Media game. Not necessarily better, this type has it's place. I think one day we'll have a combination of social media and virtual reality platforms merge into one.

Virtual reality is the immersive experience, where it seems like you are there sitting and talking with other people. Connecting and collaborating, discussing and learning, creating, going to a live music concert or having fun hanging out with friends.

There are many studies and papers on the why, and I would not have believed this had I not tried it for myself. I have connected with people who want to bring change for the good, from all over the world. I do not consider myself a gamer.

We have the summer to get this organized.
So far, I'm getting a quote to use a private virtual world (which uses the same client software as Second Life), as well has hired an event producer who will manage the live video streaming side.
We're hoping to expand this conference to other virtual worlds as well as have it live-streamed on the Second Life TV station. All still in the vision stage.

This Second Life group is open to all not just those who want to help with the conference so please join in. Second Life is free to join.

UrgentEvoke Agent Avatars

MISSION SL1: Join Second Life and create an avatar (free). http://www.secondlife.com
NOTE: Confirm your computer meets the minimum requirements, I'm sorry this may exclude some of you at this time, I hope someday it won't require a high-speed connection, or a higher-end graphics card.

MISSION SL2: Learn how to navigate your avatar. There is lot's of help available.

MISSION SL3: Learn how to join a group, find the URGENTEVOKE group and join it.

MISSION SL4: Watch for a notice from the group for the UrgentEvoke Avatars first meeting time and location around the end of June. In the meantime converse with other group members through the Group IM (Instant Message) feature of Second Life and have fun!

Be Ready.

Thanks for laying this all out (not to mention setting it up) in a simple and accessible manner. Though I won't be doing so at the moment, I have this bookmarked so I can come back later to give Second Life a try

I wasn't able to pull this off for Season 1 for several reasons, I tried hard but couldn't find any information about the conference and emails went unanswered. I will try again for this year, and for the www.gameful.org Awards night as well. I'm wondering if there will be another conference for Season 1.5 so if anyone knows or has a contact, please post here, thanks.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
