We just experienced a water crisis in eastern Massachusetts, and while it wasn't nearly as earth-shattering (literally!) as the earthquake in Haiti, it shows the kind of issues that may soon becoming more common in the first world. In this case, a water main broke, which contaminated water in central Massachusetts which fed communities in the eastern part of the state, including all of Boston. Haverhill is 30 miles north of Boston but was pretty close.... And so, imagining a water crisis--and knowing that "wars will be fought over water the way they are now fought over oil" in 2025--I foresee a potential water crisis for which Ushahidi could be used to track sources of water and those who most need it (lock-ins, elderly, etc.).
