A crash course in changing the world.
Veld fires have been a constant problem for the town; this is on of the reports from the local newspaper.
“Firefighters and rescue workers of the municipality have been kept on their toes by seemingly endless veld fires since Sunday morning. Makana municipality’s Fire and Rescue Chief, William Welkom said the first fire on Sunday started on the N2 from Grahamstown to King Williamstown in one of the farms. This fire was successfully extinguished and the area declared safe around 10 in the evening on Monday. On Tuesday afternoon another fire broke out just outside Grahamstown just past the 1820 Settlers Monument on the way towards Port Elizabeth close to the railway line.”
