Well, I was looking around and thinking about a ted talk article that I watched a few months ago about using bacterial growth for creating a limestone wall/living environment.
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/magnus_larsson_turning_dunes_into...And I started thinking about waste water in Africa and thought, well if I remember correctly one of the first steps with water purification is letting it sit to clear out the heavy particles. If we were able to use bacterial to create a 2 or 3 chamber stretch along a river, and make 2 of them and were able to direct the flow through one or the other, would we be able to let the water sit long enough to clear out a bunch of the larger particles and switch between one stretch and the other so as to clean one out while the other is being used?
Granted this isn't the wh*** solution, but a first step solution for water purification for a wh*** river system?
