Statistics reveal that the lack of access to clean water and basic sanitation affects more than 2.6 billion people globally, and kills more children than malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB combined.
Also, 4,000 children under the age of five die every day from preventable illnesses such as diarrhea, typhoid, ch***ra and dysentery.
In Nigeria, diarrhea is the second largest killer of children, causing as many as 17 percent of the deaths of those under the age of five. This is largely a result of unsafe water and poor hygiene.
All efforts is needed to solve water scarcity and poverty. If water crisis is solved, it has the catalytic effect of solving other social as well as development problems.
I like the WATER FOR PEOPLE project because it brings some fun to solving the water problem. It is also very practical and not complicated.
LAUNCH is another organisation that is doing a wonderful work.
