Talking about water and sanitation, usually it is problem in rural or remote areas.
The playpump is wonderful, remind me of a story, a touching one..A real story and real people.
A story about children in the remote area, one of our intervention areas.
Once upon a time, there was a sponsor who has sponsored child in one of remote areas knew that in that placethe availability of water was a problem. Then shortly, this sponsor sent a gift (not much) for the kid, but specially aimed to provide water. He/r family wanted to lend a hand for the sponsored child's family, neighbourhood and friends, so that they could also feel, taste and experience clean water. It was planned to be built at the school's backyard. Don't imagine a good building for their school.
After several phases of coordination, discussion and meeting with the community, it was the time to build. The community voluntarily working hard in bringing rock and some other materials needed for the construction. The pipes used to flow the water from its spring (the water spring is on the mountain). And they used water container
And after some times, it was completed. But they did not say anything to the children, they wanted to make it a surprise for them.
At the D day, children were gathered afterschool. Then the teacher asked them to go to the school's backyard..Children ran, as fast as they can, just to see what it was at their school's backyard. When they finnaly found the water container with its foucet, they started to laugh, out loud, jump..to express their great happiness..
I think we can imagine what happened afterward..
I learned that small giving can bring great happiness for others..so, I continue the struggle to faithfully serve these kids, up to this recent time..
