As you will read in my profile one thing I did whilst working at Intel 2008-2009 was create and lead a charity team for the 80+ Interns in Swindon, but also be part of the onsite committee; Intel Involved. I am not going to write about all the events I created, the things we took part in, how we actively made changes, as well to be honest if you are interested that will all be on my http://www.radhikadarbari.webs.com in the next couple days and better than regurgitate on here; though Alchemy please do visit my wesite in the weeks to come.

What I am really writing this blog about though is Sustainable water and sanitation. Many of us take for granted he water we have and I ran a event at Intel as a party in a pub to make this known with the slogan: 'For every five drinks you buy, you have providing someone with the potential of a lifetime of safe water.' Amazing as the fact is £15 is enough to provide one person to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.

I raised over £850 in the event I organised, managing to convince and negotiate with the club manager a deal to market his club across Intel in return for him contributing to our fundraising by providing the hall for free and a amount of all drinks bought income and slightly more to a specific cocktail I created for the event if bought to not lie with my slogan. It was a great success...my fear at the time was getting the negotiation right and all the people involved and the turn out. It was my first organised club/party of the sort event...(do not share with club manager who I convinced ofcourse to get a better deal I had done this 10 times before...white lie, I'm sorry) Look how many got involved. We had fun, played games, but most importantly I had been marketing the cause and highlighting the problem to all employees at Intel and turn out was great as a result even some people just coming to contribute.

More and more I read and even being in Peru now, I get disappointed with the fact the Government has been donated or had vast amounts of money invested by others to develop a water system to provide sanitised water to all it's people yet still lets just say its unsafe to drink the water here. In America on the other hand many water systems are clean enough to allow people to drink tap water but there is an obssession with bottled water. In most of Europe tap water can be drunk. EU please contribute more to build the infustructure abroad and make all countries be able to have drinkable tap water! Less bottle/plastic wastage...less climate change...more recycling..all benefits.

What I learnt though and want to share is:
a). Check out WaterAid to date who has helped more than 7million people gain access to clean water and sustainably.
b). Have courage to organise an event even if you have never done so before - all that is key is Courage and Confidence -You can Do it.
c). Let's have more talks and actions about water and sanitation. I believe every human has the right to this basic neccessity...
d). WaterAid is one...I've read about Water companies having programs to promote and share technology...my next goal promote them on here and ask you to share them across your networks...Lets get petitions started in countries especially being given the resources just not using them effectively due to what I would call pure laziness or neglate somewhere!

I still work closely with them am a active member and hope to do a great project like above or well a hands on in countries its necessary as soon as I can. Everyone in Intel in the UK knows about WaterAid and the truth about sanitation and water..that's over 1500 people :-).

Hi Michelle, thanks for the input,get your point and didn't mean outsourcing infustractures if long term determinetal or well as you say going to widen poor/rich gap and actually make water too expensive. I am talking about technology sharing in this area should be more widely done, so water can be provided safely. I think Governments whom really are the representatives of the people therefore really liable to a large degree to ensuring their people are cared for, but I do get your business,economical point, which is a problem.:-(.. thanks for support.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
