A crash course in changing the world.
I have for some time pondered the question of women's rights. I live in Denmark and even thou this is a "civilized" country, we still haven't even rights. Statistically women earn less money than men. 18% to be exact. But do this mean they don't have the same rights as men?
Is this a simplified way to look at it. I don't say that initiatives to help women should not be taken, but in reality we should support everyone, including men. To specifically supporting women you will be judging people on their sex - and that is exactly the thin people working for women's rights don't want to happen.
But there is a lot of stuff still to be done. I believe that men and women are different. I don't think we possess the same skills, even thou you can always statistically find exceptions where women are better than men in some areas and vice-versa. But I believe in equality!
I once read a biology professor say; "I'm sad we don't have equality between men and women in our society. If we had, my job would be much more easy, as I would be able to determine the genetically difference between the sexes but studding what people has chosen to do."
So whenever you think of women's rights. Women's movements. etc. remember to keep in mind:
We are equal, but not the same.
That being said, you can sure find me supporting anyone who don't allow anyone to be equal.
