Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I was doing some research on this, after looking at the wikipedia page on the investigate this mission link. Strangely enough, the same day I looked at the wikipedia article, a notice came up on the home page of my my school's website, saying that one of our professors has made international headlines. Dr. Ernesto Guzman of the University of Guelph has identified the culprit responsible for the decrease in bee colony's in my area of Canada.

From what I have read earlier there has been numerous theories people have came up with to attempt to describe the decrease, however Dr. Guzman has been able to identify that it is the Varroa Mites that are responsible, although they have also cited sparse hive populations in the fall and insufficient food in the winter as other contributing causes.

This is just a bit of 'home town' pride for me, seeing one of the professors at my school, working hard and potentially solving a great mystery. Here are a couple of links to the story from CTV and The Canadian Press. I wanted to post a copy of the journal article, however due to publication restrictions this was not possible.

In Australia we have the problem that imported varieties of bees are stronger and more aggressive than the native type, so threatening their ability to survive,

You're sure it isn't neonicotinoid insecticides that are responsible? I thought there was pretty solid evidence that they were the cause. Are there any stats on reduced colony collapse in France post the ban on neonicotinoids? That would be good supporting evidence for the hypothesis.

Really important subject Justine, thank you for mentioning this problem about honeybees
@Staling, I believe it is a combination of both: pesticides render bees weak; therefore they are prone to succ**b to mite infections. Also want to stress out that if these lovely insects disappear we follow them within 4 years! T

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
