National Geographic April 2010 just put out a special issue on WATER
OUR THIRSTY WORLD. Inside is a poster called HIDDEN WATER. This is
about virtual water...the water consumption we don't see, the amount of
water used to create a product. Examples are 1,857 gallons of water to
produce one pound of beef, 2,900 gallons of water to produce on pair of
jeans, 634 gallons of water to produce one hamburger. For World Water
Day we can figure out our water footprint. We can come up with an
equation that measures virtual water. For one day how much virtual
water do you consume. Create a site where people from all over the
world would be entering their water footprint. Map this and compare.
Map it by town, state, country, world...
