Today is a very important day, since the first World Water Day took place.
I was in charge of organizing the event. The first thing that I decided to do was to make sure that all the schools throughout the world, especially the international ones, participated in this spectacular event. Secondly, all the companies had to take part in this festivity, so that both children and parents could participate.
It was nothing expensive (halloween probably costs more). What happened in all the public places of the world was the following:
1. Everyone wore a white and blue t-shirt, to get them involved in the event.
2. A video was shown. It demonstrated how the poorest populations of the world need to travel for kilometers just to get a couple of liters of water. This also made the most lucky people reflect about the global situation.
3. Finally, a bottle of free water was given to those who participated in the event.
This was a very simple, yet very effective way to get the wh*** world population involved in a problem of global importance. World Water Day was mainly a symbolic event. However, these are the types of events that make people reflect.
