Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow
02/14/2081 - At a nursing home in a southgerman mountainrange. There are only old people to see. Robots and other machines take care of their physical needs. You can hear machines humming or smooth voices telling the elders what to do.
After a birthday party of a different kind, only people of an age of 100+ were invited, four elderly men are sitting around a table playing an antique card game. They are chatting about the game but also about the events of the day before.
"Yuri-san. Your turn!"
"Give him some time Robert. Yesterday he drank a little too much." Holger, the man next to him replied.
"You didn't learn a lot in the past 101 years about alcohol, did you?" I shot at Yuri.
"Yeah, I had to counter my aesthtetic drive."
All men chuckled. To be precise three chuckled and one tried to. It was Tom, the oldest one, 121 years. He almost lost his ability to speak but he could still participate in the game. He was not the best looser, so his inability to express these emotions made him a much more comfortable mate these days than in the past.
Holger, just mentioned "But if it takes longer we have to have break. My great-grandchildren are visiting me today. Doesn't occur that often these days. Mars is a bit away."
"Hey that is nice. I see mine once a week but just virtual. I miss to touch them. By the way DO they know why the old ones are on earth and the rest is not?"
"Dunno, I do not think so, I can remember why I sit here, I think I was too old to leave, weren't I?" Holger replied.
"Yes, you were too old. But there were a couple of reasons more about that issue. You know this global warming phenomenon, the UN decree that a maximum of 1 billion people were allowed to live on earth - the rest had to go somewhere else- the riots, the digital breakdown. How much was lost in these times."
"Ah, those times - bad times - glad they are part of the past."
"They are, but you know we are all living relics. All evidence of the past years on earth are biased, because it is rewritten and the younger ones out in the colonies on Mars and Venus do not know anything about earth at all. They don't know the history of earth, the facts, and the connections between them."
"Not everyone shares your holistic way of making sense out of the things around you, Robert. But nonetheless, everything you say has some truth in it. That is the reason why the guys at our residence here appreciate you making your tuesday evening persformance - reminds me of political comedy of the past." With this Holger had always the laughs on his side.
"I don't like the word comedy. It is...commercial. And what I am doing is not commercial at all."
"Anyway I give you an invitation. If I am done with my family, and I can tell you that won't take long, my dialysis starts at 5, you can share your wisdom with my progeny. Would be a shame if all your knowledge and wisdom would die with you."
"Sorry guys to interrupt you", Yuri said suddenly. "Robert your turn."

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
