Thomas, I agree that they should be first in the list...but not the only one touting their projects. Do a google search on GreenPeace or Peace Corps and you'll see what I mean. Of course they come up first, but there are tons of sites that reference both the main site as well as individual projects.

That's good! It's what I was worried about.

As for SEO: I've written SEO articles, before. They don't fool google anywhere near as well as the other search engines. See, google weights heavily toward the original source. They assume that if you search FTD, you're going to want to order flowers, not see how green their operations work. It's not a perfect method, but it is set up to get the most people to the most likely place. The reason you saw so many sources straight from the World Bank is…

It's not a perfect method, but it is set up to get the most people to the most likely place. The reason you saw so many sources straight from the World Bank is because of this. It's still possible that they took a massive PR campaign upon themselves, but it's more likely just the case of google's trawler preferring original, corporate sites. Thomas & Sarah, I updated…tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2010-04-30:4871302:Comment:1094872010-04-30T14:38:02.899ZNicholas Nagaohttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/NicholasNagao
Thomas & Sarah, I updated my source descriptions a bit to hopefully sound more objective. And I'm not sure if you guys noticed, but I have changed my mind a few times on this, so I certainly am not trying to make up my mind prior to doing the investigation :)

Hey everyone, just wanted to address my "grain of salt" comment. I agree that I need to consider the source for the blogs, and perhaps I should have said I took the blogs with a grain of salt, but the google results were so heavily weighted towards the World Bank's website that I'm even more suspicious. I research SEO techniques and know what a typical result page looks like when you look up a company, and I have to say the results were a bit odd to me. To me it looked a bit like a SEO…
To me it looked a bit like a SEO campaign, which again I felt oddly about because when you lookup non-profits and such, you'll generally get a lot of supporters' websites linking to the organization. In this case I found almost nothing to back up their "good" from anyone else (not even bloggers). A nitpick: You do realize that it's a little hypocritical to take a blog seriously, then take the WBI site "with a grain of salt". Why not be skeptical of both, and tell us that skepticism. Otherwise it sounds like you've made a conclusion, but are masking it by looking as if you're just providing links.

As I wrote on a post in week 1 or 2: Search info about the WB on the web, magazines, people, newspapers, books . . . form your own opinion. WBI is the soft power from the hard power of the WB.
Games are a real tool for social innovation and I´m incorporating games to my project. It´s fun and Chelsea and Mita and all game runners (all receiving a symbolic payment but really doing it for love and fun) all confirm that indeed games bring the best of all humans.
