OK, GO! Just do it yourself and see what happens. :-)<br />
<br />
I'm doing the organizing thing myself, for my Evokation, and I hope that I have it together enough to put all the parts out there for people who want to participate to choose from very soon. These will indeed be independent challenges, and if people create blog posts about them, they will definitely get points for working on the challenges.

Patricio, I agree with your diagnosis of the node-based system's weaknesses but the solution isn't necessarily through the traditional view of redundancy. There are some systems that must be run with a monolithic structure (internet, cell phones) but I think the distribution you refer to in the second post mentioned would be ideal for things like water treatment or power. However, as I mentioned in the blog post, the STARTUP resources for the distributed network would have to come from or…

As for everyone else, thanks LOADS for your input. You have no idea how much it means. However, I'm not really asking so much more than you're doing already. Just keep an eye on how the ideas/information you find fit into an organization of building or maintaining infrastructure. I'll do the rest.<br />
<br />
Thanks Chelsea for the encouragement. I'll get the first idea I had put together when I have time. You'll be the first person I call. I think we can have everything. We have a space for people with specific solutions and Evokations <a href="http://blog.urgentevoke.net/2010/04/04/what-does-an-evokation-look-like/" target="_blank">http://blog.urgentevoke.net/2010/04/04/what-does-an-evokation-look-like/</a> are the space for collaborative projects. Yes.<br />
I have a project, I need people with computer skills to work on it. I need administrators to run it. Its too big for me to do by myself and I am frustrated with trying to keep this going by myself. I don't know how to ask other evoke members for help and I don't know if its even fair of me to do so.<br />
Your idea is sorely needed.<br />
It great to generate ideas, but what use are ideas if they aren't acted upon? Or worse, because you didn't know they were there, they died when you could have helped.

I agree, Chris-- in fact, perhaps we could go even farther and allow people to adopt types of roles that were best suited to their talents-- the way it works in many role-playing games. This <a href="http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/do-the-hard-work-needed-to-27?xg_source=activity">post by Jane Crowley</a> may be typical of how a lot of people feel-- except that, unlike Jane, many may not have the courage and to stick around until they find a place where they can contribute.<br />

Also, as <a href="http://www.urgentevoke.com/xn/detail/4871302:BlogPost:81129?xg_source=activity">Floatstone has said here</a>, and I've said on my <a href="http://www.urgentevoke.com/xn/detail/4871302:BlogPost:72804?xg_source=activity">Dragon-slaying post</a> it would be wonderful if we could have some kind of group pages within Evoke for 'guilds', 'inns' or whatever we want to call them. If that's not possible on the Ning platform, there are other possibilities-- but I think having it be a formal part of the game would be idea. Chris - this sounds like a great way to engage untapped players and I think you should totally dive into this project. Right now, a lot of agents are creating their own mini challenges and putting them up to the network, usually with a request that all subsequent posts have a unique tag (NETWORK, say?). Us game runners would gladly feature a blog that tried out a new mini-game or worked to improve and build on EVOKE's system.<br />

Run with this! Feel free to send me a note (If you could put my name in the header, that'd be super helpful - I've got tons of spam to wade through) when you create your first mini-challenge post and we can make sure that it gets featured or even highlighted in the sidebar. If you can keep track of the resulting posts, I'll gladly work behind the scenes to distribute the points that you've suggested :) I should have put this earlie…tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2010-04-05:4871302:Comment:812652010-04-05T13:44:12.845ZChris Fruehhttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/ChrisFrueh
I should have put this earlier but I'm interested in any criticism. If anyone has an idea as to why this <i>wouldn't</i> be better than the current model or some unforeseen consequence, I'd love your input.
