thanks for your comment re: trying to figure out our roles, Jen. I've *really* stepped back in the last week -- for lots of reasons. Needing to step up my attention to responsibilities at home, feeling overwhelmed with this "game", not feeling like I had a meaningful contribution on the power mission [and not wanting to submit posts as "busywork" just to meet the letter but not the spirit of the challenge] and -- i hate to admit -- a nascent cynicism about some of it. i haven't exactly quit evoke yet -- but i am going into watcher mode...

Hey Jen, yes these are just burlup sacks made of sisal. The project was started in Kenya by a French non-profit Solidarite - http://www.solidarites.org/ which offers additional info in both English and French.

i LOVE this sentence from your quest: "I am not afraid to stick my neck out and make a fool of myself if it will help someone or help me learn something that might eventually help someone."

thanks for the reminder. we shouldnt be afraid of making mistakes.

Olá, muito prazer também Jen! I studied resilience in regional development and I delivered my PhD thesis in the beginning of the year! I used a portuguese region (Alentejo) as case study! I saw in profile several common key words ... adaptation, anticipation, learning ... nice! And Mozambique (never been there) must be an amazing place for "resilience thinking"! We'll keep in touch!

Thanks so much Jen, im LOVING the fact that we are building meaningful relationships and are focussing on quality, not quantity! for some reason.. I don't think I'll be seeing much of the SA sun over the next ten weeks:) but it's already proving worth it in the connections I am making via this 'giant elder' internet, take care Jen

Hey thanks for the add! I'm usually not attracted to things like this, but i think it is going to be a great learning experience and i'm hoping to gain some skills from it. Because i doubted sticking to this for the wh*** 10 weeks, I've recruited my brother to do it as well to make sure i don't get lazy and drop out. Send a friends request to Vincent Aceron. He's a smart guy with a great personality, and should have some interesting evidence! Take care.

Hey everyone! I'm Jen and this is my first time gaming. I do however have some real world experience as an anthropologist working in rural African communities in Mozambique. I'm looking forward to meeting new folks, playing the game, and learning some new skills (both online and useful for meatspace).

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
