Empowering Women

The story I chose to follow was posted to the IFAD Social Reporting blog, the title of the story is "What does it mean to be an empowered woman in a man's world?". I decided to follow this story because it shared the point of view of three women in separate situations who all felt empowered because of their individual actions. I think that it is critically important that we listen and share these women's stories and the stories of others so that women around the world can find and develop ideas… Continue

A meal in 2020

In 2020 I am living in Costa Rica where I teach ethics at the local school and live on a small subsistence farm. I am able to grow all my own food, I have beans, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, lots of fruit, herbs and chillies and I also keep a cow for milk and several chickens for meat and eggs. I live in an area where everyone exchanges crops for ones they don't grow, I aways get more corn than I need so I exchange it with my neighbour for coffee and sugar cane. The meal I am eating is the harvest… Continue

Increasing Food Security

I have volunteered with my community garden as well as help to set up and manage it. I also work with the Community Shared Agricutlure program in my region to help educate others on the produce available from our region which creates security for the farmers. As well I have organized a volunteer day for my school with The Good Food Box and organization that complies boxes of fresh food to give to those that are in need so that they are able to get fruit and vegetables at no cost.

Why Innovation Should Work With Culture.

I believe that working with the culture of a place will help with innovation for many reasons. One is that people of all backgrounds are more open to change and development if they know that their traditions will be kept safe. By paying close attention to important cultural traditions, innovators will also be able to see how the people have worked with their surroundings in the past and how they are used to living their lives. As well working with the land instead of against it is the smartest… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
