I am following the news on CARMMA--Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa. This is a program that provides medicines and medical treatment for pregnant women, lactating women, and children under five. It is comparable to the Medicaid program in the United States, with the difference being that it is available to all women and children, as opposed to only those with financial need.…

One of my friends is starting up a crafts business where she makes bracelets, necklaces, clothing, pins, accessories, etc. I didn't really have any extra money to give her to help in the business start up, but because I do loads of craft stuff at home, I had a bunch of supplies that I gave her. Yarn, embroidery floss, safety pins, fabric, needles, thread, felt, and some plastic accessory pieces. All in all, the supplies I gave her probably totaled around $100, so it was a pretty good…
