A crash course in changing the world.
I was shocked when I read the article about “I wish…”. It is a campaign of the golabal UN project “Safe Cities”. UN Women were there to doc**ent and support the statement. Safe Cities works in five urban hubs around the world, including Cairo, to increase the safe access of women and girls to public spaces. The aim of the campaign was to distribute messages on simple paper sheets to approximately 80 participants. Women just as men were writing sentences which starts with “I wish…” and it was a success. They got attention!
I read more about harassment in Cairo and I was more shocked. I found a new movie called “678” by director Mohamed Diab, that is focusing on the sexual harassment. The trailer is already shocking and can tell more about the situation I could. So have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COesFcvkXaE
I admire Mohamed Diab that he has the courage to publish this movie. It is a difficult subject and a lot of people do not want to talk about it or some people it is forbidden to talk about it. But it should not. Everybody should know what happens in Cairo every day and women need our help!
