Following Noreena Hertz as well. Like the video. The last sentence in the video "Others are more willing to compromise and that is what we should stop" I believe takes the wrong tack. Who should do the stopping? At what degree do we regard things needing to be stopped. With the right tools, perhaps the others won't want to compromise?

It seems that we are getting to the point of an "enlighted" socio-capitalism. Consumers are each day questioning about social responsability, ecology, authenticity, transparency and switching their perspective and habits based on company principles.

In the verge of a change in economic, trading and even global interaction, participation is not a choice ...either they experiment it or waste energy, money and prestige struggling before achieving extinction.

"A process cannot be understood by stopping it.
Understanding must move with the flow of the process,
must join it and flow with it." FRANK HERBER

I am not a big fan of stopping either, IMHO a waste of energy. Evolution does not stop species it lets them go extinct because of their inability to adapt.

Instead of stopping non-working things, let's create working alternatives and defend them in their vulnerable early stages. After a while the new system will thrive while the old system will fail automatically because of its inefficieny.

Noreena is one of my heros too! I think Noreena and other brilliant thinkers such as Werner Erhard and Peter Block are the masters I'm aware of who believe that by inquiring into, or investigating, our perceptions and beliefs we gain insight and new possibilities for innovation. Integrity is at the core of each of their conversations. There is something transforming in identifying the lenses through which we come to believe what it is that we think we know.

Per Noreena:

"Take the example of biofuels. Only last year there was a seemingly powerful consensus that they were “a key way to address global warming”. Yet this year they are regarded as not only “environmentally unsound”, but also a main contributor to the world’s food crisis. What factors were at play that led us to initially believe them to be wonder fuels? Or take the case of advertising spend. The Internet is now commonly perceived to be the best place to spend one’s advertising bucks. But on what basis has this perception been built? Is it underpinned by sound or scientific thinking? What about foreign aid, a huge proportion of which is allocated to HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment."

Here is a link to one of my posts that speaks of Noreena.

I will follow yours and I'm glad to meet you!

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
