Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I will use the same description found at Pop! Tech:

Author and activist Michael Pollan is a passionate advocate for sustainable food. In his compelling PopTech talk, he explores how our industrial food system keeps us overly dependent on fossil fuels, destroys our environment, and makes us sick. Breaking this cycle requires changing our relationship to food – and eating more meals together.

Dean Ornish, M.D., says the video is "brilliant, multidimensional, powerful, and inspiring. Vintage Michael Pollan".

This reminds me of two things:
1. If you can't lead by example, forget about social innovation. How are you voting with your fork?
2. Don't let the food industry take control of nations who still have a chance to take a different path. For the rest of us, we need to reverse the trend.

Monsieur Tabarly, merci pour votre commentaire. It is really that the key word in social innovation: example.

And not only the food industry is really strong, but all industries. We are living the industry age. How to reverse the trend?

Senhor Pelucio ^_^ Todo bem?

Of course Industry does not equal Evil. But people who run industry with profit as the sole and unique motive are not helping to say the least. The system is complex, and you can't point fingers at one group of people...which is why it is such a challenging problem to solve. So, let's see what we Evokers can do!

Sure right Mr. Tabarly. I think there are two ways to provoke a system crash:

- boycott;

- protest;

Let's spread the work!

Grow more heirloom quinoa please -- especially good for those in higher elevations.

So you like quinoa?

It is a very complete food, in fact!

I love it and bake with it often, teach others how to cook with it here in the US. I need to cook gluten free so I appreciate the corn and soy we eat here, but not the wheat and sugar in the American diet. I've replaced it with quinoa, honey & fruit sweetened foods.

Very healthy feed to yourself young girl. Congrat!

I lived in US and I know how fatty the food can be - specially sweets and fast food.

How is CA now... still worried about tsunamis?

You know quinua is a product from south america, you know that?

Quinoa is nice, Amaranth is good too. They also attract beneficial ground beetles. I'm preparing a list of plants that attract beneficial insects, but the plants are hard to find because they're not as showy as hybrids. Its times like this I want to become a plantsman...

At 12:10, Michael sinthetizes the idea: Eat food. Not much. Mostly plants.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
