Helen Keller International's Homestead Food Production (HFP) program helps families improve their nutritional status and increase their income by creating year-round gardens with micronutrient-rich fruits and vegetables and small farms for raising poultry and livestock. Agricultural training and inputs as well as nutrition education is provided to the farmers, who are usually women.

The program also includes a component to raise awareness about gender roles that involves community leaders as well as the husbands of the participating women.

The 25th Anniversary Empowering Women of Color Conference (EWOCC) entitled: Intergenerational Wisdom: Celebrating Our Past, Present, & Future, returned on March 13-14, 2010 to the UC Berkeley Campus to honor the legacy of women of color in the U.S.; to celebrate the struggles of women of all ages; and to provide a space for growth, empowerment, and practical tools for everyday life. This year, the nation’s oldest and largest women of color conference focused on embracing our collective
histories, acknowledging our impact on the present, and supporting our lifelong development across generations. The two-day conference was dedicated to issues affecting women at every stage of their lives with workshops, speakers, panels, performances, networking, and vendors of interest to all age groups.

The 2010 conference included a panel of acclaimed Bay Area activists, scholars, artists, and leaders in community building and women's issues. The conference also hosted the vibrance and stimulation of Rebecca Walker and Aurora Levins Morales for two Saturday keynote addresses.

Sexual violence in colombia

I decided to inform myself about the theme of sexual violence in colombia. The video i've shared is about the mid-magdalena region in the middle of colombia. The region is also known as the 'region of death'. In colombia a civil war takes place. There some conflict parties for example the colombian police, paramilitary groups and guerilla groups. In this chaos women are often be treated as trophies of war. They are raped and displaced.
The colombian government has recognized the problem but they must implement an action plan to help the women. Till then is it up to the NGO's to give the women hope. In this video this role is taken by the judge Esperanza Gonzalez. A women who try to give the women some justice.
