A crash course in changing the world.
As my heart began growing for the poor/oppressed, and injustice - there were two books in particular that stand out for me.
Not for Sale: The Return of the Global Slave Trade--and How We Can Fight It by David B. Batstone
Prior to this book, I was not aware of the scope of modern day slavery.
The H*** in Our Gospel: What Does God Expect of Us? The Answer That Changed My Life and Might Just Change the World by Richard Stearns
In case you haven't figured out by now, I call myself a Christ-follower. Please dont try to put me in a category or make assumptions about me because of my faith.
For too long "christians" (as well as politicians) in the United States like to draw lines and chose what they want to champion. For too long christians were either about sharing the gospel, or about social justice. Stearns, a former CEO at Lennox China and now the President of World Vision explains that it shouldn't be one or the other... it should be both.
People who say they follow Christ should be (sadly it often times isn't the case) the most giving, the most loving (regardless of color, sexual orientation, religion...), the most selfless, and the most active in helping those in need.
