Here is a list of 10 challenges and social problems that I consider would make meaningful and solutionary focuses for the next season of EVOKE, with a name for the EVOKE following the subject, and some relevant links:
BioDiversity ('Extinction Alert!')
Desertification ('Invasive Deserts')
The 'Western' Diseases (Obesity, Diabetes, Heart Disease,...) ('The Diet Plague')
Religious Fundamentalism ('Apocalyptic Destiny')
Military Industrialism/
Profiteering ('The High Price of War')
Primary Old-Growth Logging ('Saving the Sacred')
Gang Violence ('Viral Violence')
Agribusiness vs. The Small Farm (...'Agribusiness vs. The Small Farm')
Ocean Ecology ('Oceans in Peril')
Human Consciousness ('Changing Our Reality')
("We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them')Perhaps getting in to new areas of the world is going to first be a question of having EVOKE available in a more diverse range of languages. Maybe first doing a Spanish version would really open things up to much of the Western Hemisphere, and a Chinese version would also help access a big crowd (and a big gaming crowd, too!).
I think EVOKE would be great for a younger audience to play. To reach out and attract more players from the 12-17 years old demographic would be planting an amazing seed in the next generation!
An interesting change to the game might be adding in another incentive, or gaining another fulfillment, from completing each part of a mission. This could be tied in to the story and comic, where there is a short, perhaps 1 or 2 pages, of comic that comes available each time you complete one part of a Mission.
A great new tool for EVOKE will be 'media motivation'. There can be video or audio from amazing, world-changing people that are made specifically for the EVOKE network. For example, the week's EVOKE is 'Peace and Conflict', and along with a new mission and quest, there is a personal video for the EVOKE Network from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, inspiring and motivating all agents to take on the challenge!
I would be very inspired to continue participating in EVOKE if there was a focus to support agents in supporting themselves and their activities with the resources and skills needed to keep themselves 'afloat' in these times and in the days to come. This could be a sort of on-line exchange market for EVOKE agents to send resources to each other, a central HQ where agents can go for education on crucial world-changing skills, a multi-national interest free microbank for EVOKE Agents, and perhaps beginning a decentralized storage program for keeping crucial supplies on hand for requests from EVOKE agents.
