Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I am going to write about a contraversial matter of a resilience: - The U.K General Election 2010.

The Situation:
The U.K needs change. Just about coming out of a recession, unemployment increasing, Government all over the place with politicians the last couple of months been disliked by the people, having found out they misused thousands of pounds of Britains tax payers money in their work and life, buying second properties, flats, to cleaning assistance. The three main parties; Conservatives, Labour and Social Democrats are fighting to win votes, but what will be the result?

The Urban Resilience:
It is speculated a hung parliament might arise. What that is: A hung parliament is one in which no party has an overall majority, no party has more than half of MPs in the House of Commons.

It means that the government will not be able to win votes to pass laws without the support of members of other parties.

In this case I think it will show that the public's want is a mix of the political parties ideologies. Many, when asked are uncertain for whom they should vote. Why? Lack of trust and faith in the political system anymore.

Will there be riots? I don't think so..however more strikes and peoples voices of what the people want I think is going to occur. The people in Britain want to be heard. A hung parliament forces certain coalitions between the parties and especially this year, with pressure on all leaders of the parties to have promised a change for Britain and know how serious the situation will be if nothing gets changed. The people are unhappy...riots and strikes are not around the corner as in the day of tomorrow, but through the year if nothing gets done, there will be unrest.

How Ushahidi can be used?

The people need to keep the country from collapse, rioting, revolution and outbreak to save eachother, so a element of co-ordination is needed for the people to work together and drive/influence politics in the correct matter to a better U.K.

  • What different kinds of data would you track in the crisis? What different kinds of urgent information and resources would you need to collect and share?

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
