A crash course in changing the world.
When I think of drinking water security, always an organisation called "viva con agua" comes to my mind. They are based in St. Pauli, Hamburg, Germany and their overall aim is to enable people all over the world access clean water. Therefore they raise funds through very different actions and donate them to clean water projects in many different countries.
What makes "viva con agua" special for me, is that they are not only supporting people in the third world, but alsothe artists, organisers and visitors of events. I got to know that organization on a music festival in Germany some years ago. There they were collecting cans and drinking cups, since they are paid with a deposit. The organizational members bring these cans and drinking cups to the stores and therefore receive the deposit. For us as visitors of the festival it was easy to just bring the caps to the viva con agua station and not to bring theme back home again. That is what makes this organization fundable especially for me: You don't have to give them money, but you can give them things, that you don't need anymore (like those cans) and they raise money from that.

I heard of the concept "viva con agua!, but until now didn't know exactly what they were doing. Thanks for the interesting blog post, Martin!
I like the idea of combination of an event and such donation!
