Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Have you thought recently how good you have it?

Bad hair day? Slow internet connection today?

The other day I went to my fridge and sighed. Leftovers, again. I went over to my computer and jumped on Google. I ran into this picture up here on the Left. I looked at my sandwich and could not beleive how selfish I was. I decided to create a list of things that came to my mind that I over look everyday, that I should be thankful for. Some of these things are easily affordable and could be purchased for the less fortunate.

1) Bed
2) Running, Clean Water
3) Roof
4) Walls
5) Comb, shaving cream, etc.
6) Chairs and a table
7) Couch
8) Soap
9) Pencil and paper to draw and write
10) Food
11) Car
12) Bathroom, with privacy
13) Clean clothes
14) Carpet
15) Sink
16) Internet and computer
17) TV with cable
18) Healthy friends
19) No illness or sickness
20) I have two legs and two arms, all fingers and toes attached.
21) I have to wake up to an alarm clock, not gunfire.
22) A full time job, that I enjoy
23) A hot shower
24) Shoes and socks (more than one pair)
25) Electricity

The list was not even hard to come up with. Took no time at all.

Please add additional things in the comment section and ideas of how we could collect things to send to those without.

Access to health care (it's all good being healthy but what if you happen to get sick?)
Access to education
Freedom of speech
Choice of who you marry (or don't marry)

Ok, yes I realise that some of these are not as "easily affordable and could be purchased for the less fortunate" as some of the items on your list - however you also added afew items that are difficult to purchae (health or a good job for example).

Anyway, great idea - we really should count our blessings at lot more often than we do rather than sighing about leftovers, or full public transport or not being able to afford another beer:)

Nice work Agent Baird!

P.s. which day is best for you as a "mentor-day"?

I would have to say Monday after 4:00 p.m. Central Time Zone. United States.

I do agree healthcare is exspensive. A lot of being sick has to do with the environment you live in too. You can't change the environment you live in either, so people would have to move.

Township life. It is tough to live in township, high rate of crime, bad environment and unhealthy places.

As one of my heroes Nick Vujicic (http://www.urgentevoke.com/video/i-love-living-life-i-am-happy) likes to say: "We should be happy about the things we HAVE, not bitter about the things we don't have. This way our life will be BETTER, not BITTER!"

Maintaining an attitude of gratitude is healthy. When we are feeling thankful, we are in a position to receive more blessings. To understand what I mean by that - you need only pay attention to your body. I can only speak for my own experiences, but I have spoken to others who agree. When I am thankful, I am more often than not feeling relaxed. When my muscles are relaxed, I'm at peace. I breathe deeply, and experience the moment. When I am 'wanting', or 'craving', my general feeling is not one of joy. I might be feeling sadness, or anger. These emotions, I equate with tight and tense muscles.

To try and sum it up in another way...

When I am thankful, I stand relaxed with open arms. When I am craving, or desiring, or feeling needy, I am standing squeezing myself, with every muscle tense. I cannot receive anything in that state.

I guess what I'm trying to point at is that holding an attitude of gratitude is much more than just being humble. It is a healthy way to live, and it puts you into receive mode.

When I am truly in need - I expend a greater effort to focus on what I have and to give thanks that I have it.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
