A crash course in changing the world.
An interesting money system that I have been exposed to is the money system we have at The Citadel. Each year The Citadel advocates a specific amount of our tuition money onto a school card that we can use for uniforms, books, and hygiene items. Although it is real money from our tuition it is a good system in the sense that it gives students lateral movement to get the necessities they need for school. A good part about it is that the money is limited and it is limited to certain items one can buy. This prevents the purchase of nonessential goods. This system could be more effective in other settings such as money specifically designated for bill payments or a section on ones salary reserved on a credit card used specifically for grocery items. By making money selective for use with certain items people will be more likely to buy the things they need rather than the things they want.
