A crash course in changing the world.
After carefully reading up on the water crisis in Uganda, I discovered that there are several programs taking a stand against the cruel and unforgiving water depressions that the nation faces year round. According to Water.org, several foundations under the organization operate with "microfinancing" institutions to provide loans for water and even sanitation efforts to better provide the villages of the nation with healthier living conditions. These two serves feed into a program associated with the title "water credit." The program seeks to help all those that it can touch keeping in balance with the 40% of residents in the greater Kampala region who live in areas that are situated on "unplanned settlements." According to Water.org, only 17% of those residents have access to pipe water. Most individuals in these areas are left only to use springs which contain contaminated water for drinking/common use. Although 65% of the country is connected to clean water, a extremely high amount of populations still forgo clean and safe water. This program however seeks to resist the issues found with the lack of water in this region and makes a progressive approach to helping those who are in need of clean resources.
