I don't have heroes, I have fellow travellers.
I've been following
Howard Rheingold on twitter for quite some time now. He's an educator with a web 2.0 twist. As an educator of Legal Studies I teach (and am deeply concerned by) democracy and human rights. When I witnessed what happened in Iran, I
knew that social media was powerful and should be explicitly taught.
I'm not a techno-optimist. I don't think twitter will save the world. It, and other services like it, might let us become co-ordinated enough to change the world positively.
Howard looks at simple things like mind-mapping, and complex things like journalism in a connected age. I admire him for being a voice in education that's brave enough to tackle new conversations in novel mediums.
He pa**** my filter for crap detection. Kudos to Howard.
