Real Bank and Real Money

After the global collapse of fiat currencies and Bank runs that the fractional reserve banking could not handle there is a new hope: Real Money and Real Bank. The concept is very simple: The Dollar, the Euro, the Renminbi, the Ruppe . . . all currencies were disconnected from real assets, from reality and that´s why they collapsed. It got even worse when virtual currencies from games where exchanged for real objects. The energetic cost, the real impact every purchase has on a social and environmental levels was abstracted even further. Instead Real Money is based on real objects and real time. You work an hour = 1 Real Money Unit. I kilo of bananas = 1 Real Money Unit. Real Bank units can´t be printed unless there is a real tangible object or quantified hour of work. Simple. The Real Bank is Community Owned by the San Pedro Community.

This is what Real Money looks like.

Sure this is just the beginning and complexity will emerge pretty soon. So far a Doctors hour is worth exactly the same as a bus driver hour, but everyone seems fine with it for now. The future might be a different story. How many kilos of mango do you need to buy a laptop? 536. It can get complicated soon, so people are lookingn into this alternatives:

www.kiva.org seems very popular in San Pedro.

Agent Michele Baron has been working on this project since 2010

Agent Mark Mulkerin founded The First Bank of Evoke

Agent Radhika Darbari founded The People´s World Bank

Can you help the people of San Pedro find more alternatives? Please write them in this blog.

As people say in San Pedro: "Money-Keep it real."

Sounds exactly like the Real Bills Doctrine. But it's not fiat currency that's the enemy. It's debt based fiat currency. Value based fiat currency issued by government is actually just a "real bill" for the receipt of the goods and services of the wh*** nation as opposed to a single item or the labour of a single person.

@ Iron: Thanks for the info I didn´t know about the Real Bills Doctrine. I am still reading about it and will comment more later. I think enemies are fiat currency and interest rates.

so could i invest mangoes and then have mango interest? and have more mangoes over time or are they scrapping that system entirely?

Nice, Patricio! Can I also get an honorable mention for the Whuffie? I really like it for the way it allows you to recognize the enormous amount of unpaid work that a lot of people do for us. I was delighted to be able to give some Whuffies to The Utne Reader, which was a source of fascinating independent journalism long before there was an internet to look things up on. I only wish it could be expanded to everyone, so that you could 'pay back' your mother, or the wonderful teacher who convinced you that you had talent and turned your life around.

@ Everyone: I like this idea, by Agent Turil Cornburg http://www.urgentevoke.com/video/the-river-bank I just wonder what mechanism could we build into it so it really works and the system is not abused?

@ Cian: People in San Pedro are against interest rates. Nature will give you more mangoes in the form of seeds, that´s a real interest rate.

@Sarah and Ethan: The Whuffie Bank looks like a really interesting idea!!! My only concern is the same as with Turil´s idea. How do you really keep it fare for everyone and what mechanisms are needed so people don´t abuse the good will of others? How do you imagine the Whuffie Bank In the long term?

Another issue you would need to worry about is price fixing. How is it to be determined that x amount of 1 product is equal to y amount of another product, yet both are equal to 1 real bill? You have two choices it seems. You can either adopt a policy similar to that of the infamous "Edict on Prices" or you can let price float based on supply/demand principles. If you choose the latter, you cannot say that 1 real bill of one product is equal to 1 real bill of another, at which point you are bartering real bills instead of the products they are receipts for. It might work, but it is not a convenient system.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
