This is rather coincidental timing, but this event is happening THIS WEEKEND in my community!
The Bloomington Transition Initiating Group will be holding The Great Unleashing, an Open Space event that will engage Bloomington in a collective and committed response, and will kick-off the process of creating a 10-20 year energy descent action plan. It will be a one-day town meeting, celebration and extravaganza that will motivate, excite, educate and engage the community in coming together to envision a vibrant, resilient, and dramatically less energy-dependent Bloomington. The event will address the interrelated problems of energy, climate change, and economics as they relate to Bloomington and the surrounding region. In the morning there will be keynote speakers to help focus on the tasks at hand. In the afternoon, they will be working together to begin the journey toward resilient, proactive solutions. Throughout the day, music and art will be shared to inspire the work. It will take place April 24th, 2010, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, at Bloomington's City Hall Council Chambers.
