Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Who is the real owner of this house? - Developed world or Developing world? Ideology/World-view/ Maps don't lie

http://www.urgentevoke.com/page/agent-map

This map shows the owner of the house (America & Western Europe) and the reason behind the present resultant misunderstandings.

It is not accusatory, it is only a map, but the map can explain that the digital divide spoken of by David Dewanee leads to other divides that cannot be papered over but needs skills of reconcilation and mediation and negotiation and contingency planning that are only being developed in evoke. By all of us together as a group.

Thanks to everyone for participating , may it bring forth greater levels of co-oparation and collaboration and resourcefulness and sustainability

But much more, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, self-control, compassion, empathy and other virtues which are the fruit of the Spirit of Divinity or Jesus or Buddha or any other such great soul in each of us.

I want to make it clear that I do not belong to World Bank or Ning, as I am not for both these platforms.

one was a burning man camp image -sarah is from buenos aires and in such a camp at times
another from fotolia - the one you found objectionable
one is a barbie as jihadi thing
then there was this pic of a kid with argentinean flag on face and a sun symbol -face paint .
but if you look at the works of feminist writers like helene cixous its not objectionable , starling
Comment by A.V.Koshy on April 25, 2010 at 8:40pm
as a matter of fact
they would be more objectionable to usa than other parts of the world
which is why she got them censored
cos the game runners are all from usa

If you go to one of the comments Sarah posted in Delta you can see one of the images posted as a comment by her on Nomad's post,

What does meta-language mean to you dear Starling?

the issue of a house divided, globally, has plagued humankind almost since written histories have been recorded. Here in Evoke, the issue of a house divided has rankled since Pan Americana was banned. (here are some of the blogs I wrote, pursuant to the issue of fairness when Pan was banned: http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/currency-that-cannot-be-t...

http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/is-tyranny-sustainable-le...

http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/free-speech-sustainabilit...

Sweeping the banishment, and the banned, aside has not succeeded. It is hoped that Sarah will be reinstated. I hope that Pan will be reinstated. It is a great loss to lose responsibly-written blog posts from keen minds and voices--from all over the globe.
That we have banned, pre-emptorially, participating Evoke Agents who had many contributions, even if some were objectionable to various other agents, is bringing into sharp focus the question of "who are 'we'?"
Are "we" a community of aspiring social innovators, who hope to contribute to the greater good of the social and environmental fabric of our world?
If so, then how can "we" countenance banning participants without explicitly and transparently established and demonstrated cause?
We are talking virtual speech here. Not shouting "fire" in a crowded theater--not physically confronting (can avatars move in evoke? not yet, anyway), not physically harming.
Even criminal suspects are given some rights of due process.
But Evoke is a game. Why involve questions of free speech and due process?
Because at the crux of sustaining the freedoms and securities (food, water, etc) necessary to promote a more sustainable, open and transparent life for all in the world, the hearts, minds, and politically/socially-active WILLs of all people must be involved.
People need to be responsible for learning the skills which enable them to live better lives--don't give a man a fish--teach a man to fish (and give him something to eat meanwhile, while he is learning...).
Don't ban an agent of evoke. Don't give up on the wandering sheep (@ Koshy...)--

and please don't silence the debate on Evoke. What if, in celebration of democracy, and the right to free speech, and the responsibilities to preserve indigenous knowledge, to support innovative solutions to the world's problems, Evoke could create a way-station, a "jail," if you will, wherein to place the avatars, their blogs and posts, and all the comment streams, while and until the "prisoner" has demonstrated the responsibility and capability to resume participation on the main pages of evoke?
In the Evoke "jail," the debate could continue, transparently, until a compromise and acceptible forms of action could be agreed upon. Evoke, as "jail administrators" could review content and perhaps put those black bands or bubbles which can be seen occasionally on television, on actually harmfully offensive posts, if any, and the debate could continue, openly and to some reconcilliation or conclusion.
Obviously, Evoke is a game. But in a larger construct, it is a game about life, about meeting challenges to improve the qualities and sustainability of life. As Koshy said, "a house divided against itself cannot stand... Issues of censorship and moderation can always be discussed and set right..."
what if everyone could participate in the discussion--if they so wished? "Evoke Jail" may be a solution--stop the banning, start re-planning. Keep the participation and discussion open. As koshy said: "Thanks to everyone for participating , may it bring forth greater levels of co-oparation and collaboration and resourcefulness and sustainability." thank you for the post, koshy

Great idea Michele, a timeout sound like an awesome network feature. From the looks of things, Evoke is really what it set out to be: A crash course. In the future though games can learn from this 10 week crash course, and build on it. In evoke I see a game which future designs can learn from and mimic.
We had to take our lumps with this one, and Im sure that in hindsight one day, there will be many more examples of ways this game could have been improved, but getting to that point, when designers have had time built up a knowlege base and can see peoples past mistakes will take time, but we are helping by participating. Thanks for the great post!

Interesting post. I think it is funny one of the links says page not found. The problem is that we are facing a tough position. The censorship issue is due to how they feel philosphicaly. The mods that is. If viewpoints presented do not line up with what the mods want they can and will get pulled. Thing is I hold a more conservative view compared to most here. Am I risk? This is one of the reasons why I haven't completed the empowering women mission. Its a loaded mission that can divide a house fast in how to resolve the issue. If I post something that seems "old fashion" and there is backlash would my posts get pulled. The question may seem to be yes because there is a viewpoint goal for this project.

Funny theological side note. When Jesus talks about a house divided he states "Can Satan cast out satan. If so then it is a house divided. I cast out demons. In what name do your sons cast out demons." The question is who or what is the real demon in this situation.

dear michelle - it's possible to have a part of evoke for experimentation - the word jail sounds very odd -
as does jail administration - the rest of what you say is fine
my point here is that of misunderstanding
the moderators want to stop what they see as derailment and disruption
they also feel some are crying wolf by saying there is a conspiracy afoot
actually no one thinks there is any conspiracy going on
i dont know if anyone is against the mods or the admins either
except maybe a person who got kicked out very early an african
his name was there in one of the blogs of raymond m kristiansen
he wrote very bad english and was against the world bank and got kicked and he wasnt so big so no one fought for him and i wasnt around then
the real issue is avout voices as your picture suggests
and rating -pics and videos and even blog posts could be rated
maybe in evoke 2 if theres one
the players think there is not enough transparency, clarity and such things etc
i mean the game says find out own ways to win
then we do things - or at least i do - innovative etc - and the mods say that was not the right move
it's like me as a teacher telling kids you can do anything and then finding out that what i mean is they can only do some things
suggests lack of planning though it was well intentioned
no harm there but it needs more thinking and can be set right
this is virtula we cant really harm people on here too much so freedom can be pushed to as far as possible
actually evoke has done a good job, if only they would bring at least sarah back somehow
not to say it cant be better
the demon is disunity -dark logos
while i agree we need many groups to save the world on the principle of redundancy if the groups are going to be against each other the actual work that is going to happen after evoke will be capsized
thanks radhika
the real issue is a simpler but more clear set of rules and regualtions i feel
for instance - dont use any bad or abusive langaige
dont post pics that are not fit to be seen by chidren of all ages
dont leave links in comments to oyur own post - haha michelle , should i give you a time out
dont play in your comments , play is not allowed

the real issues are world bank money and transfer of ownership to third owrld countries for their development - partnership being given second place
at evoke we have found how crowdfunding, miicro loaning and microgifting etc - can by pass these big banks and governments as can barter, exchange and local trade etc...
those are valuable insights as are forms of new money that can work in limited contexts like virtual currency, time and so on and so forth
giving ownership to third world countries means language issues forst of all, then media - evoke has to be in a media they can access and easily use so the actual voices of the people not just highly educated ones like me from the third world can be heard
i agree with evoke on one thing
i wish people would read acts and learns and imagines - i find almost no readership for my serious and good posts but lots for the controversial ones
dark logos -whatever your view is you must put it forth
and take the consequences
this is a budding and interesting democracy
or rather it really is trying to be
i have one last point to make - this is psychological
when a person is pulled up etc he or she may recover
but when banned he or she is most likely to turn into an enemy
then the purpose of the game - that part of it which was good - every where motives are a mixed bag - is lost entirely
this is clear to me - i dont now why it is not clear to the mods
is the purpose to also make enemies for themsevles

that might work for usa
but not for what is emerging here which is larger than evoke - gabrile said that evoke will be mimicked true -we may have virtual countries in the future based on eovke - a new way of living - morning oyu log and he state tells you what to do in a fun way and you do it or gives you freedom to do what you like with certain constraints
if you look far enough into the future evoke is a very important exercise coming as it does after facebook, buzz, twitter, youtube, gameing online experiences etc... it mixes things, it is changing our perspective of looking at the world itself

Koshy--I only used 'jail" and "jail administrators" as short-form terms--the lowest common denominator concept word, maybe. certainly not an ideal or even polished term. I think the word should be more like "time out room" or "place for prolonged ideological discussions..." or something--but couldn't think of the proper term, so opted for the simplest concept-descriptor... my apologies. I didn't mean to be flippant.
I think though, that many read your blogs--the artistic and the serious--and in this iteration of evoke, when learning to walk together towards a more future of social innovations theorizing (and hopefully applications)
your future vision--evoke melded with eco-cities and resilient behaviors, sounds like an interesting vision. It is good you are here to share this vision with evoke.
thank you for the posts and ongoing comments, koshy

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
