"Deliver value : what are the benefits for people using the end product, does it improve a persons life ?"
This advice is the one I find the most helpful concerning my own actual work : creating a small 3D persistent world (see
Delta Lyrae 6) as aesthetics' experiments.
It resounds with the conference given by Jane McGonigal about how gaming can make a better world, that I just discovered today. As a art field student, it has some specific signification to me.
Can video game be art ? Can art helps people in any way, improve their life ? Could aesthetic feeling help people getting better persons ? Is it that obvious that collaborative gaming helps you be comfortable with collaborative work or creation, or does the purpose of this collaboration counts ?
A lot of questions, not many answers at this time, but I really think it is important to always keep in mind what is the final purpose, when creating piece of art, or even a game. Is it just for money, glory, just for yourself, or for something bigger ?
