Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

  • WHICH great challenges and social problems should the EVOKE Network tackle next?

I think that government corruption/malfeasance is a huge issue that needs to be addressed. As we go through each of the great areas of suffering in the world there are usually systematic problems that prevent that country from being able to offer help (in many cases even when aid and assistance is offered). One area that should be looked at is the idea that those without access to resources should be given free use of patents that might aid them for as long as they are under a certain threshold.

  • WHERE in the world should the network try to build up new EVOKE communities?

I think India has an amazing amount of potential for the EVOKE community. The education system and ingenuity of the populace should provide ample opportunities to recruit resourceful members. They also have a much more intuitive understanding of what great poverty and restricted access to resources means.

  • WHO would you encourage to play Season 2?

I would like to see more experts in the given areas.
I know asking them to participate may not work but many of them are involved in charity operations and their expert viewpoints and calls for assistance could help to make everyone feel a part of a team. I would also like to see the viewpoints of young people their ideas are often inspired and outside of the realm we tend to look at.

  • HOW would you change the game for Season 2?

I would like to see more rewards for collaboration, the magnification of our resources. I would also like to see a system of educational rewards, perhaps via online institutions who could offer course credits for free in return for accomplishing certain goals. I also see a great potential in having more mentors assist players in become acclimated to the game and how to best contribute and gain from the experience.

  • WHAT new tools would you want as an EVOKE agent?

I would want to see a database of EVOKE knowledge and ideas. That way when I am going to contribute something I could check the database for similar ideas and potentially team up with those of a like mind.

  • WHY would you come back for a second Season? What more would you want from the experience?

I feel the social issues are imperative for the world to address. I have a background in public health, as well as online education, and I am also extremely interested in innovation for the public good. I would love to see some mechanism where what we are doing is actually being implemented. For instance freerice.com raises funds – the idea that some of our ideas are voted on each week and a seed grant is given to help to further one or more of these would be wonderfully inspiring.

number 1 will be especially difficult in Urgent Evoke, given the work and reputation of the World Bank (especially in developing areas).

Yes - having had a small amount of contact with the US AID program I can understand the wh*** tainted source idea. The current unbelievable endorsement of the "aid is wrong" doctrine still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There may be some truth to it but personally I feel like the problem isn't that aid is wrong but that it is being structured and delivered in a less than beneficial way. Imagine if each dollar made from a new enterprise was matched up to the first $100 dollars? I think that would go a long way to starting people experimenting for a good model and that extra $100 dollars would only be a drop in the bucket of what they themselves made... Instead we want to pursue true capitalism and start businesses in poor areas that are only "a bit profitable" to me the idea of profit is very worrisome as what is "too much" and is it truly helpful?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
