A crash course in changing the world.
After reading this blog entry I want to share my favorite secret I found. When I read the text, one secret attract my attention: the using of creativity to solve a problem. Especially the second point of Paul Polak’s seven hints I like very much:
“Think creatively: start big, use constraints as a filter and find the simplest solutions.”
This point combines some of the other 32 secrets which are termed in this blog. At the start, creative ideas may carry together in a brainstorming or something else. There the creativity of a huge group can be used. A group like we are here at Urgent Evoke. At the beginning every imaginable method of resolution is possible. Nothing is wrong. Why do not setting constrains at his time? This would limit creativity, “start big!”
When this step is finalized, you have to develop constrains. On the one hand they serve as filters to preclude ideas which are not realizable. On the other they structure the remaining solutions to get a better overview. Constrains accrue from cultural point of views, financial resources or technical possibilities. This part includes a lot of points which are mentioned in the text. Using this constrains, the catalog of ideas will decrease. Then you have to find the simplest solution and – of course – you have to implement it! Perhaps it is possible to combine several of the remaining solutions or parts of them. Of course, this method is not the easiest.
But in my opinion, this secret has a huge potential, because the multi-layered creativity of a group provides a wide spectrum. I like it and for me it is very helpful when people with different point of views come together and develop a solution, which is grown out of their wh*** creativity. It is much difficult to get creative alone, because mostly creativity of one person is limited.
