A crash course in changing the world.
GAME1: To Boldly Go
This post was prompted by another.
Leaders are courageous. They inspire and provoke, they uplift and empower.It takes daring to be a leader. They're the trailblazers, the firestarters, the ones who begin the process of building critical mass for social change.
The world would be a much different place if it weren't for those who demonstrated heroic, selfless acts of courage. The ones who believed in themselves and believed in something bigger than themselves.
I can name a few to start:
- Terry Fox, the student who lost his leg to cancer, only later to attempt to run across Canada to raise funds and awareness for cancer, despite being told that he was unlikely to survive the trip
- Rosa Parks, the unflappable defender of social justice who, by the simple act of civil disobedience, changed the minds of an entire nation
- Harriet Tubman, the hero who, at great personal risk and danger, facilitated the beginnings of new lives for hundreds if not thousands of African-American slaves
So the question is -- how will you be bold during EVOKE?

I think courage is one of my weakest Evoke powers, and I'll be keeping an eye on myself to try to push myself out of my comfortable niche. Thank you for reminding us of the amazing things that courage can bring.

It's interesting to look at the Rosa Parks case. Courage isn't something that's impulsive. The courage that she displayed was even greater than most people know. (The "background knowledge" of this event is that this was an impulsive act on her part.)
As the secretary for the local NAACP chapter, she was aware of the efforts of civil rights activists across the states. In her words:
"I did not want to be mistreated, I did not want to be deprived of a seat that I had paid for. It was just time... there was opportunity for me to take a stand to express the way I felt about being treated in that manner. I had not planned to get arrested. I had plenty to do without having to end up in jail. But when I had to face that decision, I didn't hesitate to do so because I felt that we had endured that too long. The more we gave in, the more we complied with that kind of treatment, the more oppressive it became."
Courage is facing something with the willingness to accept the consequences, not doing something in ignorance of the risks.

The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. public servants
The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
