Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Call the EVOKE Network to action.  This is your chance to harness the collective and collaborative powers of EVOKE.  Submit a challenge to the Network in this discussion thread, and my team and I might feature it in the Breaking News box.

A good challenge will take only a short time to complete.  Consider these possible challenge themes, or suggest something of your own:

- Collaborative efforts
- Making new connections within the Network
- Forming teams/Working together
- Looking for patterns in the Evidence
- Collective intelligence challenges
- Creative challenges

HOW TO SUBMIT A CHALLENGE:

1 - In this discussion thread, describe your challenge.  Tell us what you’d like to see the EVOKE Network do.

2 - Choose the EVOKE Power or Powers you want to see grow. Tell us how you think the challenge
should be rewarded.

If your challenge is selected to be featured, you will earn +100 Spark.

The Network awaits your call to action.

I call this idea "Microcosm"

I think it would be valuable for agents to look for situations in their own community that share similar problems with some of the worlds largest issues, in a blog post. By investigating the problems in our own backyards perhaps we can find solutions that are applicable on a larger scale as well.

Even if this is not the case, I think the practice of this thought process is a fine exercise for agents and opens up our communities to other communities on EVOKE.

This challenge would reward +1 LOCAL INSIGHT, and many agents may find it appropriate to power vote depending on the blog post in particular.

This is another idea for the "Challenge the Network" discussion.

This would be a Maker's challenge. The challenge is to make something.

First, you would try to identify some need to want that you are someone else has.

Then you would find something you could make using the resources around you that would address this need or want.

Then you would make it, and blog about it (preferably with pictures!)

It is important to stress that this would be made out of resources readily available to you in your environment. This means don't buy anything. Instead, look around your house and use that old thing you don't need anymore, or go to the dump and find some good scrap metal.

The need also doesn't have to be a pressing one. Maybe you just need a Computer Monitor Cat Bed, or a Battery Free Bike Light. The possibilities are endless!

The reward for this would be resourcefulness, with maybe sustainability or local insight, depending on design and use of local materials. This post would be tagged MAKE1.

A great source for finding innumerable things to make is Instructables.

I am impressed with the creativity, the diversity, and the determination reflected in the Network Challenges you Agents have already submitted in this thread. Expect to see many of these challenges featured in the days and weeks ahead. I have just posted a new Challenge to the Network, and I invite you all to read it and take it on here.
I would like to challenge EVOKE to create a page where all users could collaborate on 1 thing ..
Something like WIKI PAGE ..

Based on the mission
I would like that we can all manage the page add pictures videos links and EVIDENCES ..

So we can have 1 problem on 1 page .. so we don't have to browse 10-20 comment pages .. and put it all together .. A team should arrange what should stay and what should be removed .. there are always spamers...

Maybe even progress bar .. that will tell us how much in % we have gone far about some mission .. and realisation of it ..

THE EVOKE HAS BEEN EVOKE CHALLENGED :)

+COLLABORATION!
If it's any help, there is a Urgent EVOKE Wiki, which you can find here. Hope this is what you're looking for!

You have a good idea. I challenge you to go make it! If you need any help, you are welcome to ask, although I'm not a pro with Wikia myself.

I would like to see a Weekend EVOKE Sprint.

I'm a mall watcher, meaning I'll go to the mall and watch people interact. I like watching processes, finding the kinks and ironing them out. My experience has taught me that to become good at something you must drill it. Experience it. If you have only tried making an apple pie 1 time, you may or may not get it. But try 100 times, and you will definitely have more knowledge of what it takes to make the pie. This experience will also benefit the planning of pie making and logistics of pie making.

My point is, a lot of us do not have experience at working on projects. Or perhaps we do and would like to try another position but do not have the experience, or self-esteem, to push us to that position.

Well, I say drill. Drill small, over and over and you will gain that experience.

My challenge is the EVOKE Sprint.

You must come up with a local problem that you want to solve. You must specify a problem, come up with a solution, set a goal, and come up with an action plan.

The purpose of an EVOKE Sprint is the same as a wind sprint, if you do it, over and over, when the time comes for you to do it for real, you won't even break a sweat.

This is going to be easier if you do something locally.

Because of the creativity needed to come up with something meaningful, your EVOKE project should be awarded creativity powers.

Suggestions:

- Come up with a way to increase food to the homeless
- Come up with a way to get resource information to domestic violence victims
- Connect more families with foster children
- Come up with a youth program to keep them occupied
- Whatever problems your area has

To complete the challenge, you must post your completed plan that must include the problem, the solution, the project goal, project action plan, number of people (or articulated positions), funding sources, time frame for the project, and any plans on how to multiply this project so other people can replicate the work in different cities.

I can't award it, but if you actually take the plan to fruition you should also get some extra points from Alchemy and his team. :-)

A challenge to skill!

I challenge you to pick a skill, not a power skill, but a specific real skill, and write a blog on how someone can build that skill.

The skill can be anything: Project planning, Speaking French, cooking for 100 people, CPR, etc.

Find free educational resources on the net and list those resources so someone who wants to learn that skill can become proficient!

Resourcefulness powers for this one!

Extra points for finding networks or coming up with suggestions on how people can work on these skills with others (eg, if you want to learn to cook for >100 people, volunteer at your local Salvation Army).
Collaborative Efforts.
Archimedes' famous observation "Give me a lever and place to stand, and I will move the World!"
With the EVOKE network giving us a place to stand, we could build levers, or networks of levers, to utilize what we learn: in our homes, our communities, our futures. Great courage is needed to place a lever, to announce your position and to begin to utilize your leverage and begin to change your life, your community, even the world.
Many can join to add power and focus to one lever, or many different levers may be applied, and focused upon the same problem. If we all work with our best abilities, creating and utilizing powerful levers, we can solve urgent problems, and even "move the world!"
The "wheel" of EVOKE has already been invented. But what different journeys might we undertake if you could choose your place to stand, place your fulcrum, and use your lever to help the wheel move? If you pass your lever on? If you get more people to join you, and strive together to make a real difference with the EVOKE Powers we learn to wield?
Identifying powers used, and creating a lever/fulcrum should be rewarded with points for courage, resourcefulness, creativity, vision. Identifying a point/problem/place to locate the lever and begin a solution/change should be rewarded with points for local knowledge, spark, perhaps collaboration and sustainability, if appropriate.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
