A crash course in changing the world.

Episode 5 CODE PHRASE: "The poorest person in the world is not the one without money but one without vision."

It's an old Ghanaian proverb: "The poorest person in the world is not the
one without money but one without vision."  What do you think this code phrase means to the EVOKE Network?

Money is an abstraction thats made real. For example, in America we have a fiat economy, where money is backed by confidence (in the government). Its not really backed up by gold anymore. Gold in actuality, is just a pretty rock. Its value has to be attributed to it (though it does have some properties which makes it useful in electronics, thats besides the point). Money is just the concept of value made into a physical representation. Money is in a sense not real, and is actually an abstraction. Vision is what creates value.
Vision is what motivates people to start putting things in motion. It doesn't give value to money. To people with vision, money is simply a tool which they use to achieve that dream or vision. If they don't have the money, they usually find a away to get it. To be honest people with vision devalue money as they have no real interest in it beyond it helping them achieve their vision.
What creates the value of money are in reality (and unfortunatelly) debt and interest. The first one forces people to give value to it, when they're forced to repay their homes, cars, company startup debts, schooling. The second has two meanings: on one hand it helps banks dictate the pace of a its country's development by changing the interest rate (low interest rate - higher chance of starting businesses, high interest rate diminshes it,etc), on the other hand it always puts people into jeopardy of losing their belongings by not being able to return the loans they might have had. As such money or rather, the fact that a person wants to have money always creates a position of debt and thus a position where a "value" is created and applied to the abstract idea of money.
I agree. Despite the fact that money might do wonders in today's world, but that could not be done without a good sense of vision, which might facilitate the quest of doing useful things. Moreover, vision could generate money, but money could hardly generate any vision.
a poor person is not poor because they are poor, it is because they can not see a way out of being poor where the rich person saw the way out in other words that person has a vision.

people who win a lot of money have this problem because they think money will solve the problem when no amount of money will solve the problem. Vision would be this to see a different path and be able to act without that you are a poor person indeed.
Money is not everything and just becase one does not have a lot of money, it does not make them poor. The poor is poor not because they are lazy or dumb, it's because they have had not a lot of chance provided for them and therfore it is harder for them to achieve a higher level of status in the class. Without vision, one is very helpless and can really be described poor. Vision is much more valuable than money.
Some people are poor because of external conditions, and no amount of vision can make them break those chains: http://bit.ly/bqQOaf One perspective could be that networks like Evoke don't need to travel around the globe, but in fact can pressure their own governments to have foreign policy more (or entirely) focussed on human rights, and not on trade. Letting trade (and economics generally) rule how we relate creates inequality.
I like the thesis of this amazing book; "The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better", by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett. It proves, with some incredible evidence, how greater equality is what makes societies stronger - equality, not amount of riches, is the measure of happiness in a society.
Based on thirty years of research, it shows that for each of eleven different health and social problems: physical health, mental health, drug abuse, education, imprisonment, obesity, social mobility, trust and community life, violence, teenage pregnancies, and child well-being, outcomes are substantially worse in more unequal rich countries. Statistics are given for 23 of the top 50 rich countries and also for 50 states of the USA.
Work to win, look for others that agree working together is always the right answer. We all should look for ways to spend your time profitable. Life is an opportunity to hoone your skills, practice make experts, winning makes companions.
Yessssssssss... this is my favourite quote, I like it and I will love to re-write it as " The poorest person in the world is not the one without money but one without vision" This code phrase means, If you have vision to change the world, You are surely in right boat which is leading to you the changing world you wish it and you are wealthiest one but without that You have nothing even having every thing......... You have no sight and without sight you are blind and dark in the world.

That it's not about money, it's about seeing the things around you and reacting to them.

"The poorest person in the world is not the one without money but one without vision."
I think this means that having a dream, and a vision is more important than money. Money can buy you things, but without vision how do you know what to buy, and what to do with it.

I think it means that you can say what you are going to say all day, but when it comes down to it, you don't have anything to back it up with. " You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?" I also think, on a depper level, that it means that without the passion and drive, you're nothing as a person. Sure, you have money and a big fancy mansion, but it gets lonely when you're all alone.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
