Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Hi Everyone,

I know we each are tracking topics of interest to us, but I thought I would share my library of links with everyone in my group and more. I joined Diigo and I am going to use it to put all the links, etc., that I feel are noteworthy and valuable. There is simply too much information on UrgentEvoke and just running a search on "food security" brings up tons of spam posts now. To resolve that, I'm setting up my own library.

What I'm Doing with Diigo

I can archive the links I want, and I can also share with a select group of people who I trust not to spam the archive. Anyone can join, but it is moderated by me, so I don't have to view extra stuff I don't want to on my list. However, I created a team group library for those people in my network and you can too. People who join the group I set up can add their links, or they can make their own library in Diigo and then share that with others. Here is a link to a group where I am sharing all relevant links for the UrgentEvoke game: http://groups.diigo.com/group/evoke_team . You can ask to join that group if you want to add your own links there or you can create your own library or team and share that link with me here.

Diigo Features

Diigo has some great features which make it valuable for information sharing:

  • Highlighting - You can highlight text for others to see, letting us skip right to the section of interest in a long post.
  • Sticky Notes - You can post sticky notes on the links too.
  • Tagging - Tagging can be done easily via a toolbar you download.
  • Library shares - Multiple libraries and groups can be set up and information shared between them.
  • Toolbar - Easy tagging, highlighting, sticky notes, and sharing across your Diigo network.
Multiple Think Tanks

I'm trying to get different groups together who have common interests to spur information sharing and ideas, instead of one giant glob of people on UrgentEvoke. You can archive and highlight posts by agents in your library too! Sharing between various teams can happen even if you're not on my network of people. Moderation is by the creator of the group team, so it's somewhat self-governing to reduce spam and "help, I can't figure this out" types of posts.

Use It Just For Yourself

Even if you only use it for yourself and never join a group, it's a great way to archive your research online. Maybe you'll spot many posts or links of interest that you don't have time to read right now. You can tag them as "unread" in Diigo and get back to them when you have time.

Hope this helps everyone!

With warmth,

Claire

Great idea, i will join the group :)
Wonderful, great to have you! Just download the toolbar right away and as you read evoke posts or any other material online you are researching, hit the bookmark button and tell the rest of the team why you think it's a noteworthy addition to the library!
Claire what a great idea...

DO you know about our reading group @ http://www.urgentevoke.com/forum/topics/book1-evoke-reading-group

would love to have you be a part of it...

Namaste
This is an awesome idea! I may join later, but right now I am swamped with work and feel I can't really contribute the way I would like. Just keep reminding me, in case things get less hectic for me here. Spring is planting time. Winter is usually reading time.
Same thing here, my schedule is already hectic with my activities, would like to join the reading group later on :D
No problem... anytime would be great...

@Claire you work ona farm? very cool...

@Bulent ... any time is fine...
No, I have a large garden I am trying to urban farm. I need tools though, and some very large planters for trees and some of the soil is clay. Still scratching my head how to do it without spending hundreds of dollars just for containers.
Library off to a great start:

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
