Episode 2 CODE PHRASE: "When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion."

It's an old Ethiopian proverb:  "When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion." What do you think this code phrase means to the EVOKE Network?

There is a program out there called Anansi which means spider in ethiopian I think.

This is from their wedpage //canis.csc.ncsu.edu:8005/anansi/
Anansi is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to explore web resources around the world. Basically we want to do an evaluation regarding accuracy and performance on a distributed web crawler, and BOINC is our final choice after consideration. Measurements in such a system including accuracy, robustness, flexibility and performance will be evaluated. Blessings and Peace everyone.

spider webs are tiny but really strong. if they get co-ordinated they can make a big differents, just like agents
if each of us makes a little effort we can achieve great changes by adding all our efforts
If you think you are too small to make a difference, but you are working with other people you can make big changes
When organizations or people with little power join together, they can help fight enormous global problems which are stronger than they are as individuals.
This proverb has a very profound meaning for me, and I'm going to show you why.
In everyday life, I'm a librarian. I connect people to the books they need (not necessarily those they're looking for) and to the ideas and information they need to make their dreams come true. Since before the start of EVOKE, I've also helped a number of people doing the same, or introducing one to the other thinking that the encounter could bring something precious to both of them and to everyone else in their field.

This is (to me) the life of a librarian in our century - not just fetching books, but acting as a bridge between people, ideas, and the future, bringing together everything in a richer web.

I got that under my skin ;)

Hi alchemy.

This is a very interesting and amazing proverb you have given us here.
To me personally it means one thing: if we all work together, we can achieve great feats.
Let me explain:

One spider web couldnt possibly tie up a lion by itself, but when mutiple spider webs unite, its a much stronger force and can tie up a lion.
This remarkable proverb relates to daily life as well, as to EVOKE. When people work together they can achieve much more than if one person tries to do everything himself. for eg: it would take years for one person to build a house by himself, but only a few months if 20 people work together.
In EVOKE we are doing a similiar thing. We are helping each other out, and working together we can achieve so much more. . .
When all the agents unite we can certainly make a big impact on the world.

I thank you for the interesting discussion.

Regards
Wouter
Small consistent action eventually will translate into a revolution that had earlier not being envisaged.
Well, I can understand mainly the following. When someone has an interesting, original and outstanding idea in mind, and has the determination to carry it out, he or she might be surprised at the encouraging results that might reach to, despite all difficulties and challenges.
Brings to mind the book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 4 verses 9 to 12 which reads: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Although this verses traditionally speak to marriage, it summarizes well the strength of UE. I am my brothers keeper.
small things can combine to form a big thing. In this case small issues, lack of greenery, condensed building structures, killed bees and drove the temperature of the city up which hurt rice production. It took many small changes, roofs, land and water gardens to start to improve things.
Well Said Mikayla

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
