A Local, Creative Hero
Recently I've been trying to get to know a local restaurateur here in my hometown of Riverside. He's a hero of mine, he takes all the trash from his taco shack and turns it into beautiful art. Check out some pictures of it:

I went by yesterday and bought a little mariachi pinata from him. I talked with him for a while about his art and his business, and how the two are so inextricable. He doesn't believe anything should ever go to waste, so he takes what others feel is garbage and releases the beauty of it for everyone.
At least, thats what I thought he was saying, it was all in Spanish and his Michoacan accent is a bit different than the Peruvians that taught me. I offered for him to come to our Learning Center and teach a workshop on the Art of Recycling, and he said he'd be honored. I'd also like to someday grow some of the food that he uses in his restaurant.

I love this post, thanks for sharing! I recycle a lot and do craft a lot, and this year I decided to focus on recycling through craft. Right now I get made fun of because I collect everything, but soon I'll be like guy in your post. :) I've made coasters out of old bathroom tiles and place mats and now I'm recycling bottles and jars. I've been creating lesson plans along the way and will be having the first "recycle your wine bottles" workshop this weekend. (mostly my family and friends will come). Thanks again for the inspiration!

Fourth of July on the Lake
This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal.
