Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

I suppose it may sound selfish, but when Evoke asked me to improve the food safety of one person I knew, I started with myself. This year, I have begun work on a small herb garden. It started with my step father packing potting soil into plastic cups. When I went out to see what he was doing, he handed me a packet of seeds.

My brother and I have now planted ten-or-so trays of plants. We've created a spot in our garage by the window for the plants to get light. We built a small rack to hold the trays, and we water them every day. I have been surprised by how easy it's been. All that we needed was soil, cups, and seeds. Although our small "garden" may not feed us. We won't have to buy anymore basil, chives, rosemary, or sage. My brother looks forward to his sunflowers growing, and I'm sure our cat will enjoy the catnip.

By the way, if your plants have grown but then start to falter you will need to replant them! This happened to me with my first potted plant, and we eventually had to put it in the ground.

Great job! I was wondering how long it takes to grow a single plant, and is it optimal for the St. Louis environment.

I'm not sure how long it takes to grow the plants. I do know that they have been coming up really fast!

We plan to plant them outdoors once they get big enough.

4 true leaves. You can replant once the seedling has 4 true leaves.
Every seedling starts out with the same genetic pattern, a sort of protoplant. If you look at seedlings, except for the size of the first leaves and a few other variations, they all look very similar. Once they get 4 of the leaf shape of the plant they are supposed to be, they're big enough. But you still have to be very tender with them.
It is easy to grow stuff, but first you have to get over the idea of black thumb and then you have to learn how to make the right environment for them to grow.

Thanks for the advice, I think that some of my plants are getting ready to be replanted.

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
