Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

When I look at all that has happened in the past 5 weeks, it's been a lot. I'm "behind" myself still working on water security and some food and energy projects in my neighborhood. I took a trip this past week to South Africa and had good conversations about social innovation, the economy, health care, and all the global problems facing the world today.

I've also been reading development economists who argue over whether it's best to do targeted interventions that solve one problem (i.e. randomized trials in development work) or a holistic approach (Millennium Villages, for instance). Some economists have felt that if you just raise a country's GDP and help them economically that all other areas--public health, food security, water security, etc.--improve. But that has not proven to be true in some cases at least in the short term.

I'm very interested, therefore in ideas and evokations that address all 5 or 4 out of the 5 of the past missions: energy security, water security, food security, money, and social innovation. There are natural interrelations between ideas that help water security and those that help food security since agriculture is the main use of our accessible freshwater supplies in the world. But I'm looking for ideas that are even more holistic. Are there any evoked ideas or plans out there that address all or most of the past mission themes? Are there even any ideas or plans that address all or most of the past and FUTURE missions as well (poverty, violence, health, etc.)? Are there any such ideas that would like to collaborate and work together in presenting an evokation?

Send them NOW, and let's move in an opportunity to evoke, affect, and impact for good.
That's a CHALLENGE!

Agent Victor, an ingergrated approach is definately a good way to go. However, it is also possible to work on one area that will have a ripple effect on others. I cannot say I have see on solution on UE that addressess all these challenges (that does not mean that there is none here). Perhaps you can write a post requesting UE agents to send your their favorite solutions for each of these areas and see if/how they can be intergrated. But off course the practicality of the solution will vary from country to country. You have mentioned Millenium Villages - would this not be a good model to follow?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
