Empowering Women - ACT

EVIDENCE TAG:
ACT6
STATUS:

Help empower one girl or woman with better access to education or economic opportunity.

Your mission: Help empower one girl or woman with better access to education or economic opportunity. Make a small donation that can change another person's life forever.

There are 100 ways to support women's equal opportunities and rights via Global Giving.

Invite your friends, family, classmates, and neighbors to team up this week. Set aside time to explore the opportunities at Global Giving and pick a social innovation YOU want to help support -- and then work together to make a life-changing donation.

How much good can you do in a week?

If you can raise $30 USD, you can buy 500 bricks to build one classroom wall for a new girl's science lab in Uganda

If you can raise 72 ZAR, you can train two young girls as peer leader-educators in Bangladesh

If you can raise 22 EURO, you can buy feed and vaccine for an entire year for 1 woman’s poultry business in Ghana

OR: If you can't make a donation this week, spread the word: Use Facebook and Twitter to inspire your friends beyond the EVOKE network to support women's equal rights and opportunities. Tell them about your favorite Global Giving venture.

Your objective:

Work with friends, family, classmates or neighbors to make a contribution to a social venture focused on empowering girls and women. Tell a story about your efforts to donate, or to raise awareness, in a blog post, video, or photo essay.

This objective is worth +40 spark.

I am going to do research on al the great things that influential women have done in the past 100 ears and publicize it through various forms of social media, commercials, conventions, etc..

power through education.

Women are just as smart as men, it you go and look at all the discoveries women made that men took credit for you would be surprised.

Comment by Clayton Broom on December 11, 2012 at 2:31am

Allowing women to serve in developing countries like Afghanistan can shock the local male populous. This could eventually turn into a good thing as the males might be intimidated by what the women are capable of.

Comment by Mary Crawford Esslinger on December 7, 2012 at 2:25am

I think that women are just as capable as men and shouldnt be treated any differently. In 5th grade some girls started a petition because the football coach told us that we couldnt play. Although I now know that I physically am UNABLE to play football, I think that e should have had the oppurtunity to try out.

Women can do the same thing as men, but we can do it in heels. I think women need to be able to have the same job rights. There has never been a women president, women arent allowed to go into actual combat in the military (people will say that if a women is shot, men are more likely to stop what they are doing to help them.)

in countries where women are culturally forced to wear move clothes and adhere to different laws, establish women's courts to judge on these women (not equal, but a lot more fair and probable)

The best thing I can do now would be to help spread awareness. I'll tell people about the situation and hopefully it will motivate some people to donate (to a contributing cause).

Comment by Brian Hill on November 16, 2012 at 4:24am

When I am in high school, I will go on a church retreat to Jamaica to help build houses for the homeless. The majority of homeless people in Jamaica are women.

Comment by Sydney Koeneman on November 16, 2012 at 3:45am

I would raise awareness, so that women my get equal rights someday in some parts of the world.

Comment by Martha Wilber on November 16, 2012 at 2:27am

I would tell lots of people about it and try and raise money to donate to the people in need

Comment by Brian Adam Smith on November 16, 2012 at 1:56am

i would help a lot of women become pultry farmers because they can make money for their family and feel like they are apart of their family and women can do the same if not better farming than men.

Comment by Grant Reeder on November 16, 2012 at 1:34am

I would hand out posters to people while standing outside a mall. This would allow many to hear about the problem and most likely many donations will follow. I would also donate my own earnings to help with the suffering women and men of the world to allow them a better life.

Comment by Steven Jackson on November 16, 2012 at 12:50am

I will try to donate some of the money i make to this cause.

Comment by Olivia Koenig on November 15, 2012 at 10:21pm

Something i will do to help raise $30 is ask for donations. Also, since Christmas is coming up, I will ask for money so i can donate to this cause.

Comment by Hal Olson on November 15, 2012 at 9:43pm

I will try and make money around the house for this worthy cause, and help to spread the word.

Comment by Lauren Keen on November 15, 2012 at 1:57am

There are a lot of options for people to choose from. Some of the ideas i will do are inform people, give donations, and take part in a fundraiser.

Comment by Lily Davis on November 15, 2012 at 12:53am
I will inform people about the situation to spread the concern of girls and women not being as well treated as men.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
