Hey, as the intention of this game is to get many young people together and basically educate them through this game to be more considerate to the world, I think there should be some work towards that goal.
If you want to attract young people (lets say 15-30), I think you should make this game more playful. The way I perceive this now, it's basically one big discussion board with a weekly new topic to discuss, linking to real sites and real information. While this is good for people who want to discuss these things, it's certainly not a way to attract gamers.
Things that could be done:
- make an interactive world
- have more and better rewards (and punishments for bad behaviour) so that people have the feeling they can accomplish things.
- don't make the game too real, as this takes away the pleasure of gaming. Some people try to escape reality through games, not face more of the same reality where they're not good enough.
- don't have this game completely revolve around discussing everything, as that's not gaming.
- give more directed freedom to solve problems. as in: don't give all the answers right away, let people use their imagination and look for the answers.
- don't have people expose themselves to the world with the quests and missions about "who are you?", "where do you live?", "how could you change the world?", "choose a hero", etcetera. Let the people have privacy.
Make this more game-like, rather than a discussion board with extras. If you do, you'll probably get more players.
