A crash course in changing the world.
3/4/2020. This is the fourth big storm of the winter for DC. Given the District's budget deficits, snow removal is not going to happen--the fund for plowing, etc. was used up after the second snow. This storm totaled 37 inches so far, with more expected tomorrow. This is me taking food to the Ron and James, an older couple up the street who haven't been able to get out for groceries. They are hosting a "global food support network" meeting at their house tonight. Somewhat ironic, yes? We wade through snow drifts to come together and plan food relief for climate refugees in Australia. I love this neighborhood--just on my block we have a futures forecaster who works for the International Monetary Fund, a retired Airforce colonel who coordinates volunteer relief teams, a logistics coordinator for the Red Cross, a producer/director of social justice doc**entaries and me. I provide the cookies...we also serve who bake.
