In 2011 my group of non-medical people to help others coping with their problems during a pandemic will be a group of psycholgists. Their abilities could be very helpful during a pandemic outbreak. It is not only necessary to get physical help but it is also important to get the psychological help needed. Especially while a deadly desease infects and kills all the people you know and love and panic will be amongst everyone. Psychologists could do there best to keep people calm and healthy in an… Continue

EVOKE - a crashcourse in social innovation in the form of an online game.
But why an online game? Because "Gamers are willing to work hard all the time if they're given the right work," (CNN Tech

Experience with Evoke
Evoke was the first serious online game that I have played, and as such I made many new experiences while doing so. The first challenge was to learn what the game is actually about and how to use the website to accept and complete missions and quests. Thanks to the introductory videos and the intuitive navigation it did not take a lot of time to get things up and running.
The comics used to introduce each… Continue

1. Which positive experience have you gained while you played EVOKE?
- I have noted that I have thought more often and more intensely about social problems generally, and about the fact which solution possibilities or approaches there are already and how these could be enhanced.
- With my friends I have often talked about the missions and my assignments and, besides, I allowed them to participate in my acquired knowledge, as well as from them have got…

Berlin, Alexanderplatz. Midday. Old peoples sitting on the streets. Old women are knitting and old men are listening to the radio while drinking beer. The people look exhausted and dissapointed. Between the high buildings in the background and the television tower the people look lost and not fitting in this modern world anymore. Few joung people are passing which don’t realize the old people anymore. In the front there is one young… Continue

As I have been to the rock im park festival and know how urgent and bad it can be not to have the sanitary installations or even enough water to get clean, I would celebrate a two day long mud fight. I know that there will be much water needed to get the people that partizipate on that event clean from the dirt again. But even if the water wastage will be high, I think this event will be very funny and people will get curious about it and even a lot will take part. After my opinion it could… Continue

I had to write a paper about the Evoke network for university. I'm sorry that it is only written in German but it was much easier for me.
Here it is:
Continue

“How are you evoking today?” That is the question I had so many times in my head while playing this game. And sometimes it was really hard to find an answer. There was a lot of positive experience I got while playing evoke, for example the feeling to do to something important for our earth. It was the believing to do the right thing and it was very good to know, and also a far-reaching incident for me, that there are so many people who are obviously doing and feeling the same thing. They all… Continue

The questions I answer in this post for the 10th learn unit differs from that the missions asks for.
I played EVOKE as part of a course for my university studies. Therefor I wrote a paper in German to summarize my experience.
I hope you are ok when I abstract this here in English
What positive experience did you gain by playing EVOKE?
I always were interested in different social and environmental aspects brought up by EVOKE,
but I really learned a lot… Continue

Good things happen if you do them
We've had different sets of experts get together and discuss the empirical evidence to support the notion that good things will happen if you do them. That's what I'm going to call psychological first aid, and it has certain underpinnings—safety, calming, connection, efficacy and hope.
• Safety is about removing people from a threat.
• Calming happens when you want to lower the state of arousal so people can function,… Continue

I played EVOKE within a seminar at my university. Therefor the questions which I answered differ from questions that are requested within the mission. But they seem really similar so I think that shouldn´t be a problem.
What positive experience did you gain by playing EVOKE?
To me the wh*** EVOKE website left a pretty positive impression right after seeing it the first time. The website was designed with much care and the missions which were put in… Continue

In the year 2020, a holiday that we would celebrate would be independence day,on July 4th. This is an important American holiday that uses a lot of energy, but it could be the beginning of something new; sustainable energy. We could celebrate this not only as independence from britain, but also from using limited energy resources. we could power our celebrations with sun energy, wind energy, and water energy and make the wh*** day about using unlimited, natural energy sources. This could be the… Continue

Something that we, as students, use everyday are cars to get to and from school. We use gas, excrete pollution into the air, etc. The many side effects of using a car to get to school are not worth using very valuable energy. An idea to think about is that while our cars are parked for the wh*** day in the blazing sun during the school hours, why not power them with sun energy? While we are at school, our cars can be filling up on sun energy out in the parking lot. We could spend the rest of… Continue

Four students from Harvard University have come up with an amazing new way to gain free power and not harm our environment. It comes from the energy of kicking, throwing, etc a soccer ball. That energy is usually lost to the ground, at the point of impact, but these student have come up with a soccer ball that will save that power. This is such a breakthrough for people who do not have access to electricity, nor the money to gain it. This soccer ball will be useful because it will be a fun way… Continue

In the year 2020, the meal will be completely safe for the environment. As well as being safe for our global community, it will be healthy. There will be no processed food or preservatives, but people will be required to keep gardens just enough to suffice themselves. The government will give every family the right amount of food to sustain themselves in a healthy way. This would eliminate factory pollution as well as give the resources needed for people to grow their food.

A way that I have initiated food security for my future home is by transforming the backyard into a complete garden. Next year, my family will move to a town 200 miles away from where we now live. Recently, we filled up our car with plants: tomato, cuc**ber, beans, carrot seeds, etc. and set out on the trip. We spent the wh*** weekend transforming the grassy backyard into a garden. There is a row of all kinds of plants, and our friend keeps adding to it. Recently, he added watermelon and… Continue

In my community, there are already projects underway to help those in need of the basic necessity of food. In the greater Hartford area, there are people who struggle day to day to eat a meal a day. They struggle to feed themselves, and sometimes even their families. My basketball team and I have joined the effort to help these people by volunteering at a breakfast shelter. The shelter opens at about 7 in the morning and people file in to recieve an egg, oatmeal, coffee, milk, muffins and… Continue

A group of friends and I have tried to spread the word of the water crisis in Haiti and what individuals can do to help. We have discovered that there are thousands of people in Haiti that suffer from the disease, Ch***ra and it is because of their contaminated water supply. We have found an organization that helps raise money for cleaner water in the country, as well as accepting water donations so that there will be clean water to drink from other parts of the world, decreasing the chances of… Continue

The pandamic has come unexpected and fast. Nobody knows exactly where it come´s from, but it is very infectious. Nearly the wh*** area is in quarantine. The people aren´t allowed to leave their houses.
The supply of food/water and the provision of medical care are running well and are good organized by the local government.
So the most important problem during a crisis seemed to be solved. But there is still a group of human we should think about in a different way: Children. They… Continue
