A crash course in changing the world.
As my heroes I picked the guys behind the Bamboo Bike Project. Their names are John Mutter, David Ho, Sean Murray, Marty Odlin and Justin Aguinaldo and their firm is based in Colombia University.
The project means to make cheaper high quality bikes for people in the poorer regions of Africa, with main focus on Ghana. The bicycle is one of the primary means of transportation in big parts of Africa, so the creation of a cheap and safe bike well adapted to the terrain would mean a lot for many people.
Their website is available on http://www.bamboobike.org and it's possible to keep track with them on their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bamboo-Bike-Project/102291495950 and their blog http://bamboobikeproject.wordpress.com/ .
I end this post with a slideshow where the project is properly explained.
If you feel that you can spare a few whatever your currency is; feel free to donate money to the Bamboo Bike Project. You can find information on how to doante here: http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~david/duck-rabbit/bamboo/Donate.html
